About Embary

We are building the standard for software businesses can rely on.

What we believe

Software has stopped being a project a business commissions and started being the thing a business runs on. Payments, orders, records, customers. When it stops, the business stops.

Most companies buying software here still get one of two things. Foreign products built for how a business somewhere else operates, adapted until they almost fit. Or custom software delivered once and left to age, with no one responsible for it six months later.

Neither gives a business what it needs, which is a system built around its actual operations and kept working by people accountable for it.

That is the company we are building.

Excellence is the moat

Most software is delivered adequately. It passes review, it launches, and it degrades. The market has priced that in and calls it normal.

We think the opposite is the durable advantage. Anyone can write software. Fewer can write software that holds up under real load, real users, and providers that change without warning. Almost nobody wants to be accountable for it afterwards, because that is where the work stops being visible and starts being expensive.

We build to that standard because it is what makes a system worth owning, and because it compounds. A system built properly needs less rescuing, which leaves capacity to build the next one properly.

Excellence here is a discipline, not a description. It shows up as decisions made early that cost more and pay for themselves in year two.

What that means in practice

We build for tomorrow's load, not today's.

Architecture is chosen for the load a business will have, not the load it has today. The decisions made in week one are the expensive ones to reverse.

We are measured after launch, not at delivery.

We operate what we build. Every shortcut taken during a build becomes ours to live with, which is the correct incentive and the reason we do not take them.

We claim only what we can prove.

Every commitment we publish is something we already do. When we make a larger claim it will be because we earned it.

Every system we build sharpens the next one.

Each build deepens what we know about the providers, records, and rails a sector depends on.

How we work

We work lean by design. Four in-house engineers, covering backend, mobile, devops, and delivery, working directly with Ben, who architects the system and builds alongside them. No layers between you and the people doing the work.

We are structured to grow the same way, adding senior people rather than layers.

Where we are going

We operate one live system today and are building a second. We intend to operate many, and to publish how they perform where anyone can check.

Reliability that is verified rather than claimed is the end state we are building toward. We will publish that record when we operate enough systems for it to carry weight, and not before.

Tell us what you are building.
